"Both were quite vigorous compared to the sailors that had braved the lesser Ice Age for years, and the ship’s captain considered himself lucky to have found them. Thunder had done most of the talking although usually Sun was the talker. Somehow, Thunder’s old-Anotan accent was more convincing.  

Upon being hired, they were sent with all the other sailors to pick a sleeping spot below deck, between barrels and trunks. They looked for two spots that were close enough but not too close. Two men traveling together was not seen as a strange behavior in 708, but two men sleeping together, tangled up into a pretzel, was very much taboo."

"... Minioc went immediately into the garden to extend each tree and plant a formal greeting as their new caregiver. Learning about Sun and Thunder’s true identities, about their incredible journeys, and about what adventures still lay ahead of them, made Minioc grow up overnight. Next morning, a new and inspired young man took his post at Iarnahana and vowed not to leave, not even for a second, until Sun and Thunder returned."
