A: There will be. Each illustration takes around one week to finish. THE GARDEN OF ADAYARANA, THE KEEPERS OF IARNAHANA, and LOST WORLDS have a total of over 200 full-page illustrations which are hand-drawn in pen and ink on large format sheets of 18 by 24 inches. Since the two sequel volumes don't have illustrations yet, it is expected that color versions will start being available in 2028-2029.
A: It took anywhere between twelve and fifteen years to write, illustrate, and edit all five volumes, with the color illustrations of the last two volumes still pending.
A: The love story between Sun and Thunder stands at the center of the series. The moral virtues they chase after can only be gained by knowing what true love is. History gives us many such examples of devotion, nonetheless, LGBTQ+ literature focusses predominantly on the insurmountable issues the community faces in our current time. By placing the story in a world devoid of phobias, the couple was free to bloom and reach their full potential. The author felt that such a representation was needed.
A: No. The realm of the fairies is an allegoric portrayal of the human conscience. The expansion of this realm leads to the betterment of their worlds. The author makes a distinction between an individual's conscience and a collective one. Their universal realm stands for the collective.
A: The series was inspired by many different ideas, other books, and real people. Still, at the very root of it, in its inception, the main inspiration of the first book, THE GARDEN OF ADAYARANA, was the book "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran. As the prophet teaches his people before departure about love, family, children, and so forth, THE GARDEN OF ADAYARANA attempts to explain in a more current, simplified, and accessible way, the meaning of love, trust, joy, integrity, peace, hope, and courage.
A: The books contain a fair number of intimate scenes that grow in intensity as time progresses. These moments are a vital aspect of any passionate relationship, and add to the better understanding of the depth of the romantic nature of the characters.
A: The author E. L. LEE prefers to remain anonymous. In the tumultuous era of social media, grooming an author's public image takes a lot of time away from the creative process, for both the author and for everyone else involved in bringing these books to life.
A: In the SUN AND THUNDER series, the author uses many languages, assigning to each fantasy tongue a current language from Planet Earth, in a humorous way. Daroan is Romanian. Anotan is German, the language of Goáhág is French, and Skeeter and Gray-C speak Korean, similar to the earthlings of Nainen Sisu. Yaran, Sun and Thunder's language, is not associated with any earthly language, but English remains the basic language of the Lowlands. The author is multilingual, with English being the fifth one aquired much later in life.
In addition to languages, the series also includes different alphabets, although these do correspond to English. Only the letters are different. The curious can attempt to decipher for example the letter Valine brings to Sun and Thunder from the wizard of the Anotimp Citadel. Should be a fun project for a rainy day.
A: Three maps and other graphics - THE GARDEN OF ADAYARANA includes the map of their quest. THE KEEPERS OF IARNAHANA includes a map that shows both worlds, Pamint-ul and Anotimp-ul, while LOST WORLDS includes a cosmic map of the eight pseudo worlds that form their Universe. In addition, LOST WORLDS also includes a map with the races and the dominions of Saramdul, and a representation of View's ancient manuscript with the eight ancestral flowers.
A: Sun and Thunder speak their own world's language called Yaran. They pick up Anotan, the equivalent of German, in Anotimp-ul, in the second book, and learn English in the fourth volume. Ever since LOST WORLDS though they own universal translators, one of the perks of having traveled far and wide among civilizations that, albeit extinct, had been way more advanced than theirs in Pamint-ul.
A: Yes. The author has used words from many languages as names for people and places. A few examples: RUHEN's name, the fairy of peace, means to rest in German. ALTA means another and VARA means summer in Romanian, while IARNA means winter also in Romanian, and HANA means one in Korean. TE AO means the world in Māori; NAINEN is the Finnish word for women, while SISU, also in Finnish, means resilience. There are many other such little gems weaved in between the pages of the SUN AND THUNDER Series. Enjoy finding them!

A: The emoji strip replaces the verbose back cover descriptions usually found on books. Emojis are a universal language that needs no translation. For the Sun and Thunder series, we included the peace sign to denote that the books promote peace not violence; the rainbow flag needs no explanation; the fairy represents the fantasy genre; the three letters that follow need no explanation either; the two male signs refer to a mm queer story line; the WOKE eye hints at a fair, all inclusive, and positive narrative; the globe represents the universality of the themes; and the rocket stand for sci-fi and applies mostly to the last two or three volumes of the series. Each YA book also has its own emoji strip. Have fun deciphering their meaning.
